azimuth blanking

azimuth blanking
The process of eliminating radar echoes from certain directions on a radar display. This is done by shutting off the cathode-ray-tube screen while an antenna is pointed in the selected azimuth position or positions. A timing system accomplishes this; proper synchronization with the antenna maintains blanking in the desired directions.
The blanking region, in this case, extends from 020° to 060°.
